I hope you have had an amazing weekend so far. If you live in Melbourne, i feel very sorry that you have to experience this 40 degree heat. It’s insane. However, i thought i’d briefly talk about my favourite nail polish combination as I have been skipping out the Christmas colours and sticking to this.
It;s basically a nude with a sparkly feature finger. Best of all for all you Aussies, both these nail polishes are available from Priceline. Otherwise, check your local Maybelline and Essie stockists.
To achieve this style, I use:
Maybelline Forever Strong Super Stay 7 Days Gel Nail Colour in Rose $7.95
This is a gorgeous beige rosy pink colour that lasts on my nails for a good 3-4 days without a top coat. I do have my hand in the sink quite a bit which tends to chip the polish away. However, for the price I think it’s amazing.
According to Priceline.com.au “The formula is enriched with calcium, iron and silica to strengthen nails. The special full-fit brush conforms to every nail shape to sweep on the perfect dose of colour.”
Essie Nail Colour in A Cut Above $16.95
My favourite glitter nail polish I own. It’s a gorgeous rose gold which I usually just add to my ring finger. The polish is super strong and extremly hard to remove with normal nail polish remover. I either peel it off which is usually very easy or use Maybelline Express Polish Remover which is a pot of nail polish remover with a sponge that requires you to dip, swirl and be done.
According to Priceline.com.au “Salon quality polish in eye-popping shades for the colour-conscious woman. Long-lasting and chip-resistant formula.”
I hope you guys enjoyed this post! What are your favourite nail polish combinations?
I hope you are well and have been enjoying my Blogmas! I know I have been enjoying putting together these posts for you!
Today’s post is about all the skin lovin’ goodness that I slather all over my face.
Clarisonic Mia 2 $190
The Clarisonic is an electrical facial tool that supposedly cleanses 6 times more effective than regular cleansing. I have to agree that it does cleanse WAY deeper than ordinarily cleansing your face. I have woken up so many times before using the Clarisonic to cleansing my face and still removing makeup from last night which I had thought I had removed. With the Clarisonic, I honestly haven’t found a residue of makeup. I have used it a number of times since receiving it and I just love it so far. I will definitely update you guys in about a months time on how it is going.
Lush Angels on Bare Skin Fresh Facial Cleanser $17.95
I have been using AOBS for around 6 months now and I absolutely love it! It makes my skin feel fresh and clean whilst gently exfoliating it. It’s packed with essential oils which leave my skin so soft!
Mario Badescu Alpha Grapefruit Cleansing Lotion $22.00
I received a sample size of this toner when I made an order on Beauty Bay last year and it was sitting in my draw until mid this year. Oh man, was I missing out. I feel that it has helped reduce the number of pimples I unkindly receive around my nose significantly. It doesn’t strip my skin dry which is amazing too!
Lush Celestial Moisturiser $29.95
Celestial is one of the most beautiful moisturisers i have ever used. Its quite runny in texture but its super hydrating! I cannot recommend it enough if your skin gets super dry around your T zone, like my own. I find that it can sometimes make me itchy around my cheeks but that’s only if I have freshly exfoliated with a facial scrub.
Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover $8.00
I purchased this when I was in Sydney with the beautiful Sophia (sophialscmakeup) and we both had different reactions to it! I really enjoy it, doesn’t burn my eyes or leave my skin feeling sensitive after AND actually removes all my eye makeup. Sophia did find that it stung her eyes so be cautious if you decide to purchase.
Sephora Total Age Defy for Eyes and Lips $34.00
Love, love and love this! Its super hydrating for your under eye area and I have noticed less creasing when I apply makeup. Its thick, but not thick as in too heavy and it absorbs in no time. It’s also incredible as a lip cream; apply it at night if you have chapped lips and in the morning they should feel as good as new.
Jojoba Oil $30.00
Jojoba oil has changed my life. I use it morning and night no matter what. It has so many benefits including a anti inflammatory, help reduce acne and to treat psoriasis. I sometimes get random patches of eczema on my eyelids and since I have started using Jojoba Oil It hasn’t come back. I LOVE to mix it in with my facial moisturiser for added hydration. It also is an amazing base for your foundation if you love the super glowy/dewy look.
I hope you guys enjoyed this post and what are some of your holy grail skin care products?
Disclaimer: What works for me may not necessarily work for you. I have normal to dry/sensitive skin. With saying this, please don’t get disheartened if a certain product doesn’t provide the same benefits for you. Everyone is different 🙂
Today’s post is all about the apps that i’m loving lately. They are a mixture of health, fun and editing! I hope you enjoy it.
InsTrack – Free
This app is awesome for helping to manage your Instagram account. The “free” part of the app tells you your gained followers, lost followers, non followers and fans while you can purchase add-ons that tell you blockers, engagement, user insight, media insight, best friends and featured users. My favorite features of the app is the engagement and media insight since they go into detail about what’s my most liked/unlike media, most commented/ not commented media and from then on I can analyse what people are liking or not. This is super helpful with building a Instagram page that people enjoy.
Snap Chat – Free
I am a crazy Snap Chat addict. If i’m not working or blogging, i’m likely on Snap Chat. With the new added filters like spewing rainbows and being a chipmunk, how can you not be addicted?
If you want to see my snaps which include food, my cats and opening up mail follow me on ashash123 <3 Here are some tacos I ate today 😉
Instagram – Free
Well If you didn’t use Instagram then i’m not sure how else you found my WordPress 😉 Instagram is an amazing tool that has pretty much changed my life in the past year with meeting new friends and becoming a hard core makeup addict from beautiful pictures.
Cronometer – $4.49
Cronometer is a app for tracking your nutrient and health data. Kind of like my fitness pal, but I believe it’s better! I’m not one to count calories, however, I like to use it to ensure i’m getting my daily dose of vitamins and protein since i’m a vegetarian and find it easy to skip out on them.
Facetune – $6.99
Facetune is my favorite editing app for Instagram photos. I use it mostly to whiten my photos. I have a post about it on my “how I edit my Instagram photos” post which you can check out for more information.
Let me know what your favourite apps are of the moment in the comments below!
Becca Champagne Pop has been on my wishlist ever since I saw it on Jaclyn Hills cheekbones. I missed out on the Champagne Pop highlighter several times through it’s Australian releases which I was super upset about. I then set my heart on the Champagne Glow Palette which is three times as beautiful.
Becca Champagne Glow Palette – $34 USD
Since the Champagne Glow Palette is not available in Australia I used a shipping service called ShopAndBox. It was very expensive, but totally worth it. It cost me $98 AUD.
The palette comes in a gorgeous champagne coloured compact with three highlight shades (top to bottom; Blushed Copper, Champagne Pop & Pearl).
Blushed Copper – a warm copper infused with rose gold tones
Pearl – a pearl / pale linen white colour
Champagne Pop – a soft white gold with peachy pink undertones
My favourite out of the three colours is definitely Champagne Pop! It’s just so gorgeous on my cheek bones, and even though I have rather pale skin, it works with my yellow undertones. Pearl would most definitely suit girls with more of a porcelain, pink undertone. I do love Pearl, but mostly mixed in with Champagne Pop. Blushed Copper I haven’t played with enough but it’s supposed to be a blush topper rather than a highlighter! It is gorgeous as an eye shadow too!
Do you love Champagne Pop? Or what is your favourite Becca highlighter?
I forgot to mention in yesterday’s blog post that i started Blogmas a day earlier as I probably won’t be able to post the last day of official Blogmas.
But here is day 2; my favourite goodies from the Lush Christmas range! It was a very hard selection since I pretty much love everything from their Christmas range, but I did narrow it down to the 3 must haves! If you’re looking for gifts for others for Kris Kringle, regular gift giving or to spoil yourself, hopefully this post will help! I find that these gifts would be perfect for if you have a little sister or cousin, and you can’t really decide what to give her.
All these products can be purchased at Lush.com.au or in store.
Snow Fairy Shower Gel $18.50/250g
Snow Fairy is a cult favourite all over the world, I believe. It’s pink, sparkly and smells like bubblegum.
I’m sorry about the picture as I’m pretty much out of the shower gel. This bubblegum scent is my absolute favourite out of all the lush scents. It can be used as a shampoo and shower gel, and the scent lingers on your skin for ages after showering! It’s a must. It’s comes in 3 sizes; 100g, 250g and 500g. Again, a perfect little Kris Kringle gift for your sister or cousin. With my siblings, because there are four of us, we like to do the Kris Kringle thing some years because they don’t have the budget to buy everyone a gift.
You can also buy this in “Little Snow Fairy Gift” which contains the 100g Snow Fairy Shower Gel and a FUN Pink for $14.95. Picture from Lush.com.au.
Butter bear bath bomb $5.95
Butter bear is also my boyfriends favourite. It’s smells like soft, sweet vanilla and contains Cocoa Butter and Fair Trade Vanilla for a super comforting bath.
If you miss out on the Christmas edition, they do have this all round but called Butter Ball, in just a regular bath bomb form. When you use your Bear in the bath, it doesn’t turn your bath a pretty colour or anything spectacular, but it does make your skin super soft. But it’s too cute to use in the bath 😉
Magic Wand Reusable Bubble Bar $10.50
Magic Wand is a Bubble Bar; so you hold it against the running water from your bath tap opposed to a bath bomb and throwing it in the water. When running the bubble bar against the running water, it creates bubbles!
It says it’s reusable; for up to 10 baths! ? Again, Magic Wand has the delicious “Snow Fairy” bubble gum scent which is another reason why I love it.
What’s your favourite Lush product from their Christmas range?
Today I have decided to show you how I take photos of and edit my flat lays on Instagram.
So what you need is a background of choice (preferably white to use Facetune the way i show you), some Blue Tac, your makeup of the day (or whatever you want to take a photo of) and some natural lighting.
- I use a white bedside table which I purchased from IKEA a few years ago, but any white table will do.
- I make sure to take my pictures in natural lighting – preferably when it’s a little gloomy outside. This just helps cancel out harsh shadows when taking the pictures. The times I can take photos are usually between 10am to 2pm as the lighting is at its best and isn’t too bright
- I lay out my products the way I want them and what looks aesthetically pleasing to me.
- There are usually some products that won’t lay flat and roll all around; i use Blue Tac to hold them in place. I’m sure sticky tape will work just fine, but just be careful not to rip off any paint if you’re using a table.
- I then take pictures! I usually use the square frame on my iPhone 6 Plus camera. It just makes it easier for uploading onto Instagram.
- Now for the editing part; I use an application called Facetune which you can purchase from the App Store. It costs $6.99 from memory (the app in the middle).
- I either use “whiten” or “tone” to whiten my photos. I usually use “tone” for small sections of the white table showing and “whiten” for when majority of the white background is showing. Today I’ve gone with “tone”.
- I then go into Instagram and play with the features they offer; brightness, contrast, zoom in and out, adjust and sharpen are the ones I usually use.
- I then upload my photos and that’s it!
Before and after 🙂
I hope this was helpful and let me know if I missed anything or you would like to know anything else to do with taking pictures and editing them. I’m not a professional or anything, this is just what I love to do. And also, I understand that some people don’t like it when photos are over edited etc. but this is just how i like my photos on my Insta space 🙂
