This is one beautiful palette. The mixture of the stunning warm mauve colours just makes my heart melt. Especially that matte burgundy red on the bottom right – it’s literally making me hungry.
I originally wasn’t going to purchase this palette. However, I couldn’t believe how affordable it was. So I just chucked it in with my Deciem purchases whilst I was browsing Cult Beauty and away I went.
It’s very smol. But perfect for travelling or just chucking in your handbag! The packaging is essentially a black cardboard with a handy mirror inside (yes, more travel friendly points). It has a gorgeous logo with the shimmery shadows having a reflect when you move the packaging around. I am overall impressed with the packaging (luv me a mirror).
Each shadow is 1.1g each which equals to 9.9 grams of eyeshadow. The Huda Beauty Rose Golden palette is 18grams and it comes with 18 shadows (it looks like you get 0.1g more shadow with the MO).
The shadows swatched really well. I feel that my lighting in this picture does not do them any justice. I definitely think the mattes have a much more buttery feel than the Huda Beauty Rose Golden palette. The shimmers (or metallics) are just divine; so creamy!
Very impressed with the shadows. The mattes blend beautifully on the lid. I used a Zoeva Rose Golden 221 Luxe Crease Brush with the warm pink-mauve matte shade. Next, I used the warm burgundy red matte shade in the inner and outer corners with a Models Prefer Shadow Brush. I then blended all the shadow out with a Sigma E40 Brush.
I applied the shimmer pink taupe shade with a flat Colourpop eyeshadow brush (i’m unsure of the actual name, sorry!). It was quite difficult to apply, even with fix plus. Honestly, I think it was just the type of brush I used (it was the only clean flat brush I had). I then applied the shade with my finger and it worked perfectly.
Initially, in Huda’s other two main palettes, a lot of the shades that contained shimmer or glitter worked a lot better with your finger. Quite frankly, i’m not too fussed even if the shimmers don’t work particularly well with a brush.
Where to buy it
I purchased my palette from Cult Beauty (my new favourite place to shop online). It was 20.83 GBP which is about the equal to about $35 AUD which is excellent value. I bought the palette on the 3rd November and it arrived on the 12th November which is pretty good timing since its coming from overseas.
I want to try the shimmers with a different brush next time and i’ll hopefully have a different effect. I’ll probably put a little update in this post about the shimmers in the near future.
But again, a very good valued eyeshadow palette that would be amazing for travel. Buttery colours in a very convenient little palette. I was overwhelmed by how small the palette was initially, but since researching and comparing with Huda’s other main palettes, I’m surprised that it contains a touch more product.
Are you going to pick up any of the new Huda Beauty eyeshadow palettes?
