Welcome to the first offical edition of the foundation fix. Once my blog goes under a little reno, you’ll be able to find all my foundation reviews under the title foundation fix. Today’s foundation fix post is about a nifty drug-store/ affordable foundation *Rimmel London Lasting Finish Breathable Foundation.
I chose the shade Ivory. I think it matches my skin tone well, however, it did oxidise slightly.
The foundation has a watery-like consistency. And then I thought, wow, that applicator! I have never seen one like it. It is basically like a sponge on a stick inspired brush. It made application really easy as I painted on about three strokes on each cheek, forehead and then two strokes on my chin.
The foundation claims to have a 25 hour wear and it is breathable which sounds super intriguing. There is already SPF 20 in the foundation so keep that in mind if you’re wearing sunscreen already as wearing two different SPFs can counteract each other out
The foundation has a semi-dewy finish. It is very lightweight; almost feeling like I’m wearing a facial moisturiser. I’m super impressed with the coverage; with the amount I applied, it was about a medium coverage. The foundation claims to be a light to medium coverage which is good for an everyday wear.
It lasted AGES. I applied my makeup at 11:30am and I visited my boyfriend at 8pm that same day. He complimented how fresh and pretty my makeup looked. So, thats some pretty good wear time. I don’t think I’d ever be able to physically keep a foundation on my face longer than 12 hours, so 25 hours is unregarded here.
I do have a pretty normal skin type at the moment, so I don’t really experience much oiliness (unless its hormonal related). I did also powder with RCMA powder. Another time I used the Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist and it didn’t really effect the foundation’s duration.
I really like it. It’s very lightweight, comfortable and pretty on my skin. It does a pretty good job at covering redness. I can’t really comment on how it covers blemishes because I haven’t really had any prominent ones whilst trialling this foundation. It does cover scars and uneven skin tone well. I can see a few acne scars through the foundation, but its still pretty good coverage for a medium coverage foundation.
I definitely think its a good valued foundation. Priceline sell it for $22.95 which isn’t too expensive, but keep in mind they usually have a sale on Rimmel one time or another. *This product was gifted for editorial consideration. Thank you for supporting Ashley Maree Beauty!
