Okay, is it seriously a thing to suffer from a dry scalp & oily roots? Like why can’t I have one or the other! Huh??!
Recently, I have discovered a couple of products that have made my oily hair a lot more manageable, a lot more fluffy and a lot less oily. Also, my scalp has been a lot less flaky too.
And they are all thank you to pre-cleanse shampoo and treatment! Who would of thought of an initially step before shampooing your hair? At first, I was thought it was kind of gimmicky too, but trust me, it works!
*L’Oreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay Pre-Shampoo Treatment
This product is the absolute BOMB. I received it in a PR parcel a few months back, and kind of brushed it in my draws, as I was rather overwhelmed by hair products at the time. But then one of my good friends, Lida, bought it and tried it, and said she didn’t like it. And I’m thinking to myself, oh really, damn. I’ll try it out and see if I dislike too. I followed the steps accurately as I wanted to make the most of it.
Firstly, you pop the mask onto your scalp, massaging it into the roots & then leaving it on for 5 minutes to marinate. Then you rinse it out thoroughly, until the water rinses clear. Then I applied the matching shampoo & conditioner, then blow dried my hair.
I couldn’t believe the result. I was expecting to hate it, but I FREAKING loved it. My hair was fluffy, soft, fresh and beautiful. My roots actually lifted off my head, instead of being binded to my scalp (technically speaking, they still are, but you get me :P).
I even tried the product with a different set of shampoo & conditioner; just a regular Palmolive set. And it worked pretty much exactly the same.
I then tried sleeping in the mask; and I think I located the issue. Even though I rinsed it out thoroughly, my roots felt heavier, and I didn’t get as many days out of washing my hair (lasting 3 days instead of 5-6). So I think the key is with this product is to ensure you since out every little bit of product.
*Hair Recipe Strawberry & Mint Pre-Cleanse Shampoo
This seriously delicious smelling cleanse is suggested to be used in place of your regular shampoo every couple of washes. I feel like it really makes my roots a lot more lightweight and fluffy, and I can definitely get quite a few more days before my body rejects my hair and forces me to wash it.
I do use this in place of my shampoo, when I’m not using the L’Oreal set, and just use the Hair Recipe Honey & Apricot Moisture Mask as a conditioner. And they work magical together.
Have you used a pre-cleanse product before? What was your experience with it?
