In the past year or so, metallic lipsticks have become quite a trend. When I was in my youth (like, way long ago) I did used to love a frosty, sparkly lip. In my teens, not so much. It’s only recently I’ve become a fan to them, and still, I do not fancy a lot of the formulas on my lips. I do find it a little bit of a struggle to find the perfect shade, while a number of them look patchy on my lips.
The NYX Cosmic Metal Lip Creams apparently come in 12 different shades. I own 6 of these shades, so ill only be able swatch the 6 I own. The packaging is in a clear tube which makes it very easy to determine the true colour of the product. There is 4ml of product in each tube. The applicator is a curved doe-foot applicator, and relatively easy to apply onto the lips. The formula of the product is a lip cream; so it doesn’t dry matte, its creamy, pigmented and easy to apply to the lips.
L to R;
Fuchsia Fusion – Hot pink with purple hues
Electromagnetic – Deep aqua with with silver and blue shimmers
Asteroid Aura – Purple-magenta with silver shimmer
Speed of Light – Rose gold with shimmer
Galactic – Dark grey with silver shimmer
Ultraviolet – Blue-purple silver with silver shimmer
I’m wearing shade Speed of Light.
In comparison to other metallic lip formulas I have used, this one is definitely my favourite. I have tried Colour Pop & Klara Cosmetics metallic lip formulas in the past. Klara Cosmetics is creamy, but not as creamy as the NYX. Colour Pop are quite disappointing in comparison to NYX; being quite flakey, dry and streaky.
The only thing that I do find a little annoying is that they’re quite sticky but for the sake of the pigmentation, I will deal.
My absolute FAVOURITE shade is Speed of Light which is a gorgeous rose gold (duh) with a shimmer.
PSA these make great liners as well! I’m not sure if these are eye safe so please use a your own discretion and make sure you do your research before applying anything on your eyelids. I personally haven’t experienced any irritation.
This baby here has quickly become one of my favourite drugstore highlighting palettes. It’s been sitting in my collection for a few months with minimal use, due to the fact I’ve just had quite a few new releases to play with, and it was making its way up to the review list. And, I can understand the hype.
This gorgeous palette contains 7 different highlighting shades. Don’t let their swatches fool you; even though they don’t look like much in swatches, they are stunning on the skin (which really matters). My favourite shades are the bottom row’s left and middle shades.
They are overall quite sheer but not in a bad way at all. This means that they’re buildable, so If you don’t like a blinding highlight on a day to day basis, you can get away with a subtle strobe at the office or going out for brunch.

Slightly rose golden pinky-peach
I’m wearing the bottom three shades in the palette mixed together.
NYX Total Control Drop Foundation in Vanilla & NYX No Filter Finishing Powder in Ivory
Also, shout out to the NYX Drop Foundation in Vanilla; all these photo are Photoshop & FaceTune free! You don’t necessarily need a foundation to be a sparkly glow queen; but a fresh base is always helpful in achieving any makeup look. My skin looks close to flawless. The coverage of this foundation is buildable; to a sheer to medium-full coverage matte effect.
The NYX No Filter Finish Powder is definitely feeling like its going to be my next favourite finishing powder. I find it very similar to my Hourglass finish powder. The NYX one gives a gorgeous subtle all over glow, whilst subtly setting your makeup in place. It’s best applied to the high points of your face, but with my normal skin tone, it does set my makeup in place nicely.
You can purchase these products at Priceline in-stores and online. I think Target stock some NYX products as well.
